Course Content

 

 

The course aims to:

  • raise awareness and knowledge of the theory and practice relating to treatment and risk management of sex offenders
  • explore the issues of health and safety related to work with this particular group of offenders
  • facilitate a meaningful debate of the issues of personal impact when working with sex offenders and to identify relevant and appropriate coping strategies

By the end of the course participants will have:

  • examined their own and societies attitudes and values towards sex offenders
  • gained an understanding of the process by which sex offenders come to offend
  • gained basic knowledge of risk assessment and management of risk
  • recognised personal impact work can have and possible strategies to cope of risk assessment and management of risk
  • recognised personal impact work can have and possible strategies to cope
